Office of Urban AI

The Mayor’s Office of Urban Analytics and Innovation (Urban AI) is at the center of the City of Cleveland’s efforts to make informed decisions and identify creative, innovative solutions to Cleveland’s challenges.  Urban AI serves the City as a champion of data use and modern data analysis, visualizations, and storytelling to provide an engaged approach to performance improvement and change management. Urban AI focuses on delivering three key areas of service:

Urban Data Lab

The Urban Data Lab serves as the data center of excellence for the City. This team focuses on providing city leaders with the education and information needed to make data-driven decisions, partners with City departments and divisions to develop and monitor performance indicators, establishes city-wide policies and procedures regarding data, and is working to promote government transparency to deploy Cleveland’s first open data portal.

Innovation, Assessment, and Evaluation

This branch of Urban AI facilitates innovation and modernization by assessing and evaluating administrative, operational, and programmatic performance of City departments and divisions. Urban AI aims to establish a culture of continuous improvement by identifying gaps in processes or programs and recommending strategies to improve processes, mitigate risks, and maximize City efficacy and efficiency.

Quality Control

Urban AI inspects service requests received from the public through the 311 Call Center and city systems to ensure that residents of the City of Cleveland are receiving high-quality, efficient city services. Our team ensures that service requests are completed timely, accurately, and within service level agreements, while also proactively identifying infrastructure or property repairs that require service or assessment.
