Director of Aging

Mayor Frank G. Jackson administered the oath of office to the City of Cleveland’s Director of the Department of Aging. The ceremony was held in the Mayor’s Red Room at Cleveland City Hall among co-workers, family members and friends.

“Mary McNamara is a long time public servant who has worked in the Office of Aging for over eight years,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. “Her experience and commitment to seniors and the disabled will serve her and the City well in this new role.”

Mary McNamara, Director of Aging:

Mary McNamara is a licensed social worker and has worked with the City’s Department of Aging since 2008. She served as a Project Coordinator and until today, was the department’s Administrative Manager. In these roles, she has identified and obtained several grants to support the Department’s programs and services; works closely on support service initiatives, including Transportation, Homelessness Prevention, Cleveland Tree Assistance, and Bed Bug Assistance; and, manages the Aging and Disability Resource Center.

She is a board member for Abington Arms University Circle Housing and Amani Children’s Foundation as well as a committee member for the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging. Before coming to the City, she was the Director of Wellness Programs for Fairhill Partners. Ms. McNamara received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University, and a master’s degree in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University. She has received many honors and awards for her service to the community.
