City of Cleveland Welcomes Israeli Delegation

On August 11, Mayor Frank G. Jackson welcomed 15 community development professionals from Beit Shean, Israel to Cleveland City Hall.

Other meeting attendees included Alex Lackey, Government Affairs Coordinator, Joe Cimperman of Global Cleveland, Oren Baratz, Amy Kaplan and Jessica Cohen of the Cleveland Jewish Federation among others. The discussion centered around the ongoing partnership between Beit Shean and Cleveland and the similarity of community issues in both places. These common issues include, effective governance that is substantive and not just for show, efforts to increase youth employment and opportunity, and the struggles of a radicalized political system, even at the local level. The group presented Mayor Jackson with a framed picture of the main intersection in Beit Shean that was renamed for Cleveland in honor of this 20-year partnership.
