Police Chaplains Swearing In

Mayor Frank G. Jackson and Chief Williams welcomed several Police Chaplains to City Hall for a meet and greet and a brief swearing in ceremony. They discussed the ultimate role of a police chaplain and the true value they provide as a support system for the police officers and citizens of the City of Cleveland.

    Police Chief Williams clarifies information regarding city policy as it pertains to pursuing suspects wanted for violent crimes and OVI related offenses. The City of Cleveland follows best practices in its pursuit policies, in order to protect the lives of officers and citizens while removing violent offenders.

  • ‘Safe Smart CLE’ Will Upgrade City’s Technology For Safer Neighborhoods

    Safe Smart CLE is a new initiative introduced by Mayor Frank G. Jackson that combines cost-saving and energy-efficient LED streetlights with smart camera technology to make neighborhoods safer and more sustainable. The LED technology will be powered by Cleveland Public Power (CPP) and includes features like remote control to brighten or dim lights and alerts to CPP when there is a malfunction.

  • Free Care Calls Program for Cleveland Seniors

    Cleveland Care Calls is an automated telephone reassurance system being offered to Cleveland Senior Citizens by the Departments of Aging and Public Safety. Through this computerized system the senior receives a call, on the days they request, to check on their well-being. This program is available to all seniors and is especially ideal for those living alone.

  • US DOJ Police Settlement Agreement Data Posted Online

    The United States Department of Justice and the City of Cleveland have entered into an agreement to create widespread reforms and changes within the Cleveland Division of Police. There will be broad data collection regarding many of CDP’s activities, including its use of force and stop and search practices, and public reporting of that data on this website.

  • Mass Notification System Provides Critical Information to Clevelanders, Visitors

    The City of Cleveland has announced the launch of a mass notification system that will provide critical emergency and non-emergency alerts to residents and visitors. The City encourages all residents, visitors, and businesses to sign up for the system known as CodeRED.
