How can I find out if I need to replace the batteries in my smoke detector?

There is a test button on the detector. If you push it and the detector makes a sound, the battery is OK. The standard recommendation is to change batteries twice a year, regardless of their condition.

What are the Curfew Laws in Cleveland?

If a child is found in violation of curfew, minor misdemeanor citations are issued to the parents, and fines are $224.

Students must not be on the streets on school days between 10 am and 2 pm. There are exceptions for early dismissal, alternative schools, and working students. In those cases, the student must have either a pass or ID indicating the alternate school and/or working hours.

At age 12, students must be off the street by dark, ages 13 and 14 must be off the street by 9:30 pm, ages 15 to 16 must be off the street by 11 pm and students age 17 must be off the street by midnight.

Where do I call to report a suspected drug house?

Call your local police station and ask for the Commander’s Office or the Vice Unit. Or call the Mayor’s Action Line at 216.664.2900. You do not have to leave your name and number.

Please have as much information as possible including the address, time/day of most activity and where they make transactions (side door, alley, etc.). If there is a crime in progress, report it to 911.

How do I check a person’s criminal record?

Go to the Division of Police Records File Section, on the 3 rd floor of 1300 Ontario St, Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 8am and. 3:30pm. You will need the person’s complete name, social security number, and date of birth. The criminal records check will list all of their felony and misdemeanor arrests. The cost is five cents per copy
