Cleveland Police Chief Reads to William Patrick Day Head Start Center

On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, the City of Cleveland Chief of Police, Calvin D. Williams, prepares for International Literacy Day as he read out loud to preschool students attending their first day of school at William Patrick Day Head Start Center on Community College Avenue in Cleveland. Chief Williams read two books to the preschoolers, “If you Take a Mouse to School” by Laura Numeroff and “Llama Llama Red Pajama” by Anna Dewdney. September 8th is declared International Literacy Day by the United Nations.

  • Division of EMS and Project DAWN Collaborate on Naloxone Dispensing Pilot Program

    The Division of Emergency Medical Service (EMS), in collaboration with Project DAWN, has begun a pilot program to dispense Project DAWN Kits at several Cleveland locations. An individual should be seeking the kit for themselves, a family member, friend, or loved one at risk for opioid overdose.

    Police history goes all the way back to the City's founder, Moses Cleaveland. When he established this great city, he conducted a survey seeking to “Establish peace, quiet and safety” in the settlement, making him Cleveland's very first Peace Officer.

  • Division of Police Statistics Published

    The Deparment of Public Safety has released the 2015 year end police statistics report. The Cleveland Division of Police reports yearly statistics to the Ohio Incident Based Reporting System. Statistical calculations are based on the FBI National Incident Based Reporting System guidelines.

  • US DOJ Police Settlement Agreement Data Posted Online

    The United States Department of Justice and the City of Cleveland have entered into an agreement to create widespread reforms and changes within the Cleveland Division of Police. There will be broad data collection regarding many of CDP’s activities, including its use of force and stop and search practices, and public reporting of that data on this website.
