Online Crime Reporting System

The Online Crime Reporting System is designed to make it easier and more convenient to file a police report without leaving home; however, not every crime can be reported using this system.

If this is an emergency, if a crime is in progress or someone is hurt or threatened, dial 911 immediately.

The following incidents can be reported on the Online Crime Reporting System:

Property Damage- Accidental
Property Damage- Criminal Intent
Supplemental Report
Petty Theft
Theft From Vehicle
Bicycle Theft
Lost Property

Users who can answer "yes" to any of the questions below may call  216.621.1234 to file a report or visit the FAQ's for more information.

  • Did the crime or incident occur outside Cleveland City limits?
  • Was someone injured as a result of this crime or incident?
  • Is there information about the person, even if vague, who might have committed the crime (description, name, license #, etc.)?
  • Is the license plate number known for the vehicle the suspect was or may be in?
  • Did the crime involve the use or threat of a weapon (gun, knife or other)?
  • Did the crime involve drugs in any way?
  • Are there serial numbers for stolen items?
  • Was there house or garage break-in?
  • Was this a motor vehicle accident?

Filing a false police report is a crime. You must be 18 or older to use the Online Crime Reporting System. Before you begin, be sure you have a valid email address, pop-up blocking software is turned off, and you have all the information related to the incident available in front of you.

Once your report is complete, the following words will appear: "Your online police report has been submitted."  You will then be given a police report case number and will be directed to print a copy for your records.  Upon review, if further investigation is needed, you will be contacted via email. A final confirmation with a permanent report number will be emailed to you. Please add to your email contacts so your report does not get rejected as spam.  Please note this address cannot receive emails.
