Department of Finance

The following are the Finance Departments' main objectives:

  • Maintain an appropriate financial base to deliver an effective level of City services
  • Collect, tax revenue and report the expenditure of public funds in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code and Codified Ordinances of Cleveland
  • Uphold a respected credit rating in the financial community and assure taxpayers that the City of Cleveland is well managed by using prudent financial management
  • Provide financial support to all City Departments.

This Department is comprised of thirteen divisions. Finance Administration supervises the activities of each of them, helping to maintain a high-level of efficiency, productivity and professionalism.

  • 2016 City of Cleveland Budget Book Published, Receives Award

    The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada presented the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to Cleveland for its annual budget for the Fiscal Year beginning January 1, 2016. To receive this award, a governmental entity must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a Policy Document, as an Operations Guide, as a Financial Plan and as a Communications Device.

  • MBE/FBE/Small Business Open Houses

    On the first Tuesday of every month from 10 to Noon, the Division of Purchasing hosts open houses for minority owned, female owned and small businesses to educate attendees on competing for City business.
