Cleveland Gutter Assistance Program for Seniors (CGAPS)

CGAPS Program Application
This short-term program, funded with federal stimulus dollars, assists limited-income Seniors with gutter cleaning. Interested parties may submit an application with supporting documents (listed on the application) to the Famico’s Foundation at the address above. Assistance with completing the application is available at the phone number above. This program is administered by the Cleveland Department of Aging


Cleveland Tree Assistance Program (CTAP)

CTAP Application
This short-term program, funded with federal stimulus dollars, assists limited income Seniors with hazardous tree and branch removal from personal property. Interested parties should submit application with supporting documents (listed on the application) to the Cleveland Department of Aging at the address or fax number above. Assistance with completing the application is available at the number above. This program is administered by the Cleveland Departments of Aging; Parks, Recreation and Properties; and Community Development.

Chore Services Brochure

This program provides free home maintenance for moderate to low income Clevelanders aged 60 and up. It helps residents live independent lifestyles while improving and maintaining the City's appearance.

Chore workers are City employees who provide services such as general and heavy house cleaning, lawn mowing, removing/installing storm windows, painting (limited), simple home repairs, and carpet cleaning. They will also install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and remove snow.

Donations are accepted to support the program, and can be mailed to the attention of the Chore Program, at the Department of Aging. All money collected is used to provide services.

Success Stories

Volunteers are recruited to paint homes and cut and trim yards of eligible low-income seniors and disabled adults. Currently a pilot project, the Department of Aging has plans to expand this initiative into a regular program due, in part, to its numerous success stories. The project is conducted in collaboration with the Department of Community Development, community and faith-based organizations.

Senior Lawn Cutting Program Flyer

The Department of Aging accepts applications for a no-cost Senior Lawn Cutting Program. The program runs from April to October.

Over 3000 Greater Cleveland Boy Scouts and Leaders rake leaves annually for 1000+ Cleveland seniors through the Yard Charge Program. This collaborative effort  is coordinated by the Departments of Aging, Public Service and City Planning.


Senior Initiative

This program provides Cleveland seniors and disabled adults home repair assistance to avoid housing violations citations and predatory lenders or scam contractors. This is a cooperative effort between the City’s Departments of Aging, Building and Housing, Community Development, Consumer Affairs, Public Health and Law.


Senior Homeowner Assistance Program (SHAP)

SHAP Application

SHAP provides grants to Cleveland residents age 60+ or disabled adults who meet income eligibility guidelines and own single or two family homes in need of critical, health, safety and maintenance repairs. Applicants must live in the property in question and be able to show clear title.

Applicants may print and complete the application form and mail it to the above address in Cleveland, OH 44114, or fax it to 216.664.2218. The fax cover sheet or envelope should be marked "Attention SHAP".  Once the application is received, the SHAP process will be started.

Proof of address (mortgage, insurance, utility bill, etc.), photo ID, and proof of income are required.
