For years Cleveland has highlighted the achievements and importance of its elder community with an annual Senior Day. This celebration is held in May, which is Older Americans Month, and includes an information fair, recognition of outstanding seniors, lunch and entertainment.
The Cleveland Senior Walk promotes exercise, good nutrition, and healthy lifestyles.
This event is sponsored by the Cleveland Departments of Aging and Public Health, the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging, the Clevelanders in Motion of the YMCA, and the Senior health and Wellness center at Metro Health, Old Brooklyn campus.
The first annual Golden Idol was held on May 14, 2008 and it highlighted the talents of Cleveland Seniors. The event was hosted by television personality and one of the most well-known Cleveland Seniors, Del Donahoo.

Cleveland seeks to be so elder friendly that current older residents desire to remain, former residents wish to return to the City and the City can recruit additional older residents based on the elder friendly aspects of Cleveland and its neighborhoods.
