Director of Civil Service

Lucille Ambroz oversees the area responsible for the employment system that establishes entrance, promotions, and other aspects of employment. She has been with the City of Cleveland since the onset of the Jackson Administration.

Before joining the Jackson Administration, Ambroz served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Deputy to the Chief Financial Officer for the Cleveland Municipal School District. She was responsible for the processing and accuracy of all district bidding, requests for proposals, quotes, etc. She served as the liaison between the construction and finance departments, and she organized hundreds of community meetings to solicit input on levy issues, school closings, and the CEO search, among many other issues.

Ambroz is a City of Cleveland veteran having served two years as the Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity beginning in 2000. She was responsible for a staff of 12 and a budget of $600,000.

Prior to entering public service, Ambroz had a full career in banking, working her way up from Teller to New Account Representative and Assistant Manager. Her last banking experience was 13 years with Metropolitan Bank and Trust in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. She joined them as Assistant Vice President, Sales Manager, where she instituted their branch shopper program, and worked her way up to Vice President and Regional Manager, where she was responsible for supervision, sales, and administration of 10 branch offices with a staff of 80 and deposits of $668 million.

Focused on her community, Ambroz is a board member of the Fairfax Renaissance Corp. Further, she is a member of the Commission on Partnership and Economic Inclusion, Ohio DBE Consortium, Statewide MBE/DBE Coordinators, Willoughby Area Chamber of Commerce, Euclid Area Chamber of Commerce, and Cleveland Heights Area Chamber of Commerce.
