Detroit-Superior Bridge Bike Lane Improvement Project Begins Monday, October 23rd

Monday, October 23, 2017

CLEVELAND – On Monday, October 23rd, the Detroit-Superior Bridge Bike Lane improvement project will begin. The project requires lane closures 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday from West 25th Street to West 9th Street. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times throughout the project.

The project is a collaborative effort between the City of Cleveland, NOACA, and Community. The project was developed over the past 18 months as a collaborative effort through analysis and community engagement.

In General the Project will provide:

  • An eastbound bike lane that is separated from vehicular traffic through the arch at the mid span of the bridge.(Physical barriers will separate bikes from vehicles)
  • A new westbound bike lane from West 9th to West 25th
  • And to enhance the visibility of the bike lanes, both the eastbound and westbound bike lanes will be treated with green textured material on each bicycle shaped symbol and at strategic points

The City of Cleveland will perform the work with contributions from ODOT and NEORSD.

For questions, contact Commissioner of Streets, Mr. Robert Mavec at (216) 664-3195.

Editor’s Note: Road work invariably presents hazards to the public. All travelers are urged to use caution in construction zones. Public safety and the safety of our workers is a top priority.
